Boiler feed water comprises 2 expensive resources: steam condensate returns and high-quality makeup water. The makeup water accounts for any blowdown and evaporation losses in the system. The makeup water needs to be of suitable quality to prevent corrosion, scaling and fouling in the boiler system. Hence it is very important that the make-up water is pre-treated using suitable treatment processes such as- chemical dosing, filtration and reverse osmosis (RO) membrane or ion exchange process. RO membranes are semipermeable membranes which are widely employed to separate dissolved solids to a very high degree to produce pure water. The purity of water requirement depends on the boiler feed water specifications. The multiple pass membrane process is employed to achieve higher degrees of make-up water purity.
Esmil offers holistic boiler water make-up solutions including chemical dosing, filtration, membrane and/or ion exchange processes to provide suitable boiler feed quality water irrespective of the feed water source.
